23-03-2024 – Neath MC – Youth Trial

Plenty of wet weather leading up to Neath MC’s first youth event was going to provide tricky going for the youth riders on the day. Marked out by Anthony Macklen, the riders were offered 8 sections with 4 laps of the course. A mixture of tight turns, twists, hills and muddy sections were the order of the day. All of the riders seemed to enjoy themselves, with a little bit of competition dropped in for good measure (and the weather staying mostly dry) – a good afternoon’s sport was had by all. As always, massive thanks to the observers, helpers and the Land Owner for allowing us to run this event. 17/03/2024 – WSW Rnd 2 – Dulais Valley

Report & Results When force majeure meets the optimist! With a brand new venue and our new farmer Huw being so helpful the team met one week before the trial. We really wanted to give you guys the best day out, so had called upon extra assistance to mark out the expert and masters route. We plotted the sections accordingly! The day before the trial we met again to check the route, plotting a circa 6.5 miles of going was made more difficult when someone goes and tears down the arrows and some sections had been disturbed. 3am the morning of the trial I realised the light rain predicted was so much more and could hear the river flood past my home. Emergency plan A was set in place as we had to completely remove 2 traditional river sections. If more time was available we could have eased the other sections. Lloyd Price took the overall win with young Iwan Davies not far behind. Good to see new young uns gaining ground hey. Talking about young uns, Lyn Davies was smiling all the way around and took the masters followed by freshly back into the fold Dylan Evans. Teilo Rogers nurtured by dad Gareth took the youth masters. Another back into our trial family, Dean Keniford took the clubman win and although he enjoyed the trial complained that his rollies were ruined my the stinking weather. Proper old school geezer who likes to clean sections with a fag in his mouth welcome back Dean. Old school geezer Steve Plain had a fantastic ride to take runner up clubman. Sportsman masters was taken by Grant Thomas closely chased by Bretton King. Maybe the class that suffered the most in the abnormal spring weather, Sportsman was taken by Andrew Lewis. A special mention to Jennifer Huntley for taking runner up, wharrateg Jen. Neath mcc and TTW Kevin Nedin also gets a mention for showing me how to wheely a trail bike whilst cleaning my section 7 again. See pics attached. Veteran Ian Davies came home just in front of Dave Williams and Baily Jacka took youth A. Opinions were vast. From the best trial for years to people packing up and heading home as they ran out of steam. We will learn as a team and expect the unexpected the next time we return. Massive thanks to our observers. Some had travelled for 2.5 hours to help us out. Our team of mainly old age and broken down humans and a extra shout out to our new Farmer Huw who had an excellent ride himself and his better half Farmer Andrea. Full results will be posted later on the West Wales acu page. So, did force Majeure beat the optimist, that of course depends on whos opinion you hear. We definitely didn’t intend to to have it so hard and will plan for the future. Remember, What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Vamos,, come on.

11-02-2024 – NMC 3 Course Open Trial

A Slippery day at Pontadawe was the order of the day for the Neath Motor Club 3 course Open Trial. Marked out by Anthony Macklen and the team at Neath, 3 courses, 8 sections were laid out at the venue. Expecting 40/50 riders, a good days trial riding was in order. With a mixture of seasoned riders and raw novices, it was fantastic to see riders of all abilities having a go, even down to a 20 Oset on the easy course, which was no easy task in the mud. Its not very often we see a trial where, every competitor who entered, completed every section and finished the day, with no retirements. A good days sport had by all. Was great to see Martin Singleton singing his way down the slippery bank of Section 4, and some riders have a crack at their first ever trial. We hope to see all riders in the future. As always, massive thanks to the observers, helpers and the Land Owner for allowing us to run this event. You can scroll the table below, or search for a rider name or class to narrow down the results.

21-01-2024 – Dulais Valley WSW Centre Championship Rnd 1- PROVISIONAL

RESULTS BELOW Dulais valley winter WSW championship trial report. Held a little earlier this year so we can all go watch Billy Bolt next weekend! We managed to dodge the bullet again, as most riders had finished and packed away before the persistent rain started again.  Jumping back a week, our awesome team had the wisdom to know rain would come even though conditions were perfect that weekend. We also cropped a few sections back so they would flow a little more to avoid those long cues. That done, even in South Wales in January, not one grumpy rider was seen or heard. What a fantastic bunch sharing a fantastic sport.  Lloyd price should be happy, his legs were spread like a ballerina in section 3 but he still managed to get out with a single dab which helped him on the way to another expert win and a clear win it was too! It could be debated however that Julian Collins could collect the ride of the day trophy, finishing on a measly 6 marks lost, another clear class win. Brianna King showed us she has been practising hard in the off season, awesome ride from the young up and coming lady taking the Masters A class award. The biggest class again was our clubman with Julian Page making his way around touching the floor just twice! Another great display of old age not surrendering, He’s 60 this year you know. Hope I am half as good when I am that old.  A rejuvenated Dean Keniford chased him but could not catch him this time. John Phillips was on form taking 3rd place but another ride of the day has to be a nearly 40 year old TLR Honda piloted by James Lamin. Bailey Jacka has progressed and upgraded to youth clubman, well done for stepping up. Brett King took the sportsman masters win chased by DV member Ade Lavercombe in second place. Barrie Scully is no doubt a clubman of the future but he could not wait that long today as he rode the wrong section route, our observer Erik the Viking spotted him though and gave him a 5 for his enthusiasm.  Lewis Andrews had a good ride taking the youth A sportsman masters.  Dulais valleys Dan Lewis took the sportsman class win.  Miss Maisey Morris has progressed well since changing to big wheel bikes, all the awesome TTW trainers are doing a great job nurturing her no doubts.  Finally in a busy veteran class Dave Williams stole the show again.  Well done to all who came and shared a good days riding with us. We really do appreciate it. Even more, a massive thank you to all the guys and gals observing. If there was a trophy Ide award it to Dave’s daughter for feeding her baby in the woods while observing her older son observing. What a family affair. Luckily Dave did win the Vets;)  Finally, thank you to our team @DV, you know your awesome but ill tell you anyway, great job done. Dulais Valley MC would like to thank the land owner for the use of his land , Observers and all those who helped putting on this event. Please contact Paul on 07971 968986 if there any any problems with the results.
