Calm after the winter storm pulled off by the DV team.

After what seems to have been a long Winter with no spring to mention, the Dulais valley team sent a special request to the Acu for the WSW 3rd round trial held at farmer Geths special place in the beautiful Ystradfellte. That request was answered with perfect weather for the 67 strong entry.

Riders were treated to 4 laps of 2 miles in the controversially newly named mountainside of Bannau Brycheiniog to separate the leaders and shakers. With rocks everywhere some shaking was done too, but we won’t dwell on that!

That perfect weather helped Jason Galvin galvanise the top ride of the day. Finishing on 16 dabs which is where the club team had hoped to be on the difficulty spectrum.

However, the highlights of my day were seeing a beaming Maisie Morris compete her first big trial on her new petrol machine and beaming she should be too as she took the class win.

Also mention worthy is the nearly 60 year old John Philips who believes himself to be young enough to learn how to hope a bike and I seen it with my own eyes indeed. The rear end was placed perfectly down the cambered bank of section 2 to give John a great clean. This helped him on to a great 3rd place finish behind the rock (Yorkshire man) expert James Lamin who found himself pipped by Tom Bowen for that illustrious Clubman premiere position.

Lynn Davies, who also likes to hop and bop around the sections took the Masters adult class followed closely by Adrian Jervis with Julian Collins 3rd. I heard through the jungle drums, Julian made a schoolboy error by missing out a part of the section and booking a silly 5!

Well done to Iwan Davies expert youth A class, Teilo Rogers masters youth A, Archie Fletcher masters B, Lewis Andrews sportsman youth B,  Bailey Jacka Sportsman masters youth A, Nicholas Morgan sportsman master adults, Justin Jones and Dave Williams Vets for all leading your classes home.

At the end of day everyone praised the event as a success. It couldn’t be done without our observers who deserve a special thank you and farmer Geth for accommodating the club again.

Big hand also to the team for all the prep over the previous weeks.

I also need to thank the officials from other clubs who have helped me personally over the past few weeks. Its awesome to see our clubs helping each other out;)
